BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Installs, repairs, overhauls, and regularly inspects bowling facility electrical, mechanical, and computerized equipment to include automatic pinsetter, automatic ball returns, automatic scoring systems, automatic bumper systems, sound and lighting systems, automatic ball polishers, ball resurfacing machines, lanes stripping & oiling machines and drill presses. Apply standard trade practices in diagnosing equipment malfunctions by referring to manufacturer's diagrams and specifications, schematics, and wiring diagrams using test equipment. They perform operational checks, visually check for worn or damaged parts, trace wiring, disassemble, make necessary adjustments, repair or replace defective mechanical and electrical components or parts using soldering irons, wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, and other hand tools. Incumbent selects tools, decides on the method and techniques to use, and carries out assignments independently. Standard parts are obtained by looking-up replacement information in parts manual. Cleans and lubricates machines, following preventative and maintenance schedules. Measures and regulates sweep of rake on automatic pinsetters using hand tools and gauges. Runs automatic pinsetter through complete cycle and inspects for pin setting accuracy. Assures lanes beds meet USBC standards and makes adjustments to lanes and pin decks as required. Maintains required records and reports; initiates request for spare parts, supplies, hand equipment; and performs general housekeeping tasks to ensure proper standard of appearance, cleanliness, and safety of assigned spaces. Establishes regularly scheduled maintenance programs to include cleaning bowling machine, ball cleaning machine, lane machine, pin cleaning, and rotation equipment. When needed, performs other mechanical and electrical work to bowling facility. Provides instruction and tasking’s to all facility maintenance worker shifts to assure they are assisting with the preventative maintenance program and assigned tasks. Has the ability to operate the front reception counter and cash register if needed. Performs other related duties as assigned. Supervisor checks work to see it is completed in a timely manner and equipment is operating properly.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have working knowledge of mechanical and electrical/electronic principles and operating characteristics of bowling equipment. Ability to determine which mechanical assemblies are malfunctioning through visual, operational, audio, and standard test equipment checks, what parts and mechanisms can be reworked or should be replaced with new parts, and the types of mechanical and electrical adjustments and alinements required. Ability to use basic hand tools, lubrication equipment, meters, and power tools. Must have ability to read and understand schematics, wiring diagrams, block diagrams, and manufacturer's service manuals. Knowledge of AMF 82-90XLI Pin Setters, Qubica/AMF BESX Scoring and KEGEL lane machines is desirable. Must be able to lift and carry parts and assemblies weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally push or pull larger assemblies weighing up to 100 pounds
