JOB SUMMARY:  This position is located at the Navy Gateway Inns & Suites operation at NAS Jacksonville. The purpose of this position is to oversee daily housekeeping and custodial operations for the lodging program.

 

MAJOR DUTIES:
Relays instruction received from the housekeeping supervisor and ensures work is carried out in compliance with housekeeping and facility standard procedures.  Utilizes the housekeeping report to determine work assignments for housekeepers and ensures daily reports are filled out by each housekeeper at the end of each shift.  Inspects assigned areas on a continual basis.  Monitors areas for problems, unreported vacancies, unusual activity or illegal or inappropriate use of rooms or anything else in violation of local policy.  Demonstrates proper work methods, inspects work in progress and completed rooms to ensure procedures and deadlines have been met.  Determines cleaning supplies, amenities, materials or equipment that will be needed by the housekeeping staff.  Assists with training in safety, fire prevention, MSDS and environmental/industrial hygiene requirements.  Assists with regular housekeeping duties.  Assists with deep cleaning as needed. 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Requires one year of work experience that demonstrates knowledge of basic principles, concepts, standards, regulations and administration related to housekeeping and/or custodial operations. Professional knowledge of the lodging organization, administration, policies/procedures, and practices in conducting day-to-day operations. Must possess basic math and reading skills.  Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing with management, staff and guests.  Must be able to work independently and lead a staff of housekeepers.

 

NOTE:  Some positions have special requirements. Selection may be tentative pending the completion of the satisfactory employment reference checks and receipt of proof of education (where applicable). Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period. Participation in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required. We utilize E-Verify to confirm selectee’s eligibility to work in the United States. Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. This announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies within 60 days of closing date. For positions requiring travel more than twice per year, selectee will be required to obtain and maintain in good standing a Government-issued Travel Card for official government travel purposes.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This position may be designated ALPHA personnel for inclement weather or in the interest of national security and may be required to report for work when other employees are excused.
The staff member may be recalled to duty and/or required to work overtime as necessary to meet mission requirements or on an emergency basis.
In order to verify fitness for duty, a complete physical examination may be required.
May be required to possess a valid state driver’s license. Travel to other facilities may be required within the normal scope of duties. Applicants will be notified when this is a requirement for appointment.
