JOB SUMMARY:  This position is located within the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department Aboard Naval Air Station Jacksonville Florida. This position is responsible for the community recreation and rentals program.

MAJOR DUTIES:  Assists in issuing and receiving rental equipment from customers.  Assists customers in hooking up trailers, loading and unloading of equipment into personal vehicles. Delivers, sets up, inspects and tears down inflatable bounce equipment, large party tents, tables, chairs and a variety of other rental items. Provides mandatory instruction to customers on use of equipment including set up/tear down procedures, safety policies, and waiver liability forms.  Cleans rental items upon return.  Maintains greens spaces and parks through-out the base. Uses mower, weed-eater, edge, blower and/or other field equipment to cut grass, edge sidewalks, rake and clears foliage and debris and picks up trash on athletic fields and/or golf course. Empty trash bins, sweep walkways and facility entryways, may use pressure washer in removing heavily soiled spots. May maintain facility public restrooms ensuring the availability of bathroom tissue, hand towels and soap. May be required to remove bulky items such as boxes, supplies, and equipment.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:  Has the skill and knowledge to operate and the equipment needed to perform the major duties listed above.  Knowledge of safe and efficient operating techniques of various large equipment and power tools: Operates a variety of other power equipment to include, but not limited to: blowers, weed eaters, power washers, mowers, box trucks with lift gate, etc.  Knowledge and skill using hand tools and other equipment such as: shovels, rakes, hammers, bars, saws, axes, loppers, wrenches, brushes, brooms, ladders, banding equipment, and pallet jacks.

Ability to complete assignments involving several tasks by following detailed processes which require remembering directions, sequences, following simple drawings, etc.

Must possess or be able to obtain first aid and CPR certifications within the first 60 days of employment.

Must be able to obtain a Forklift Operator Certification.

Must be able to obtain a Safe Inflatable Operators Training Organization (SIOTO) certification.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Exerts very heavy physical effort, frequently lifting and moving objects weighing over 50 lbs., towing trailers, pushing/pulling heavy pallet loads, and lifting items from ground level.  Work is performed in all kinds of weather outdoors.  Indoor work may expose the worker to drafts, noise, dust, dirt and require standing on concrete for long periods of time.

NOTE:  Some positions have special requirements. Selection may be tentative pending the completion of the satisfactory employment reference checks and receipt of proof of education (where applicable). Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period. Participation in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required. We utilize E-Verify to confirm selectee’s eligibility to work in the United States. Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. SPOUSAL PREFERENCE:  Spousal Preference can be used only once to gain regular full time employment in the commuting area but may be used multiple times for flexible type position.
