Base Gym

The gym offers exercise and aerobic fitness equipment. There are weight rooms, complete with Olympic weights, dumbbells and benches. The facility includes a basketball court, three racquetball courts, as well as athletic gear available, including towels and sports equipment.

Several fields and courts are scattered around the base that are available for commands to utilize. Commands wishing to reserve one of the court/field spaces in advance may do so at the gym.

The Family Fitness program provides an environment for promoting healthier lifestyles to families in the NAS Jacksonville community. The goal of the center is to keep the entire family healthy by meeting their fitness needs, in a family-friendly atmosphere.

This high-tech facility is free for active duty and their families, reservists, retirees and authorized civilian patrons, as well as their guests for a small fee per visit. The facility offers a complete line of cardio and strength training equipment.

Intramural Sports

The Athletic Office, located in the gym, is the center for all types of sports programs. Intramural sports available include: softball, flag football, golf, tennis, racquetball, basketball, indoor volleyball, sand volleyball and soccer.

Auto Skills Center

The Auto Skills Center is a large, complete auto workshop, that features wheel balancing, 22 work bays, tool checkout, paint booth and welding. An ASE-certified master mechanic is available on a regular basis and an in-house safety test is mandatory before participation.

The Grand Ballroom, located in Dewey's, houses both a lunch and an evening program of Bingo. There are daily bingo specials and even various Bingo events throughout the year such as Back to School Bingo, Holiday Bingo, New Years Day Bingo and much more. Be sure to take advantage of Dewey's full menu selection as you play!

Fishing is permitted on the north side of Casa Linda Lake (catch and release only) and in the St. Johns River. Fishing is not permitted from the piers at Mulberry Cove Marina.

Jax Navy Flying Club

The Jax Navy Flying Club (JNFC) offers courses in private aircraft instruction for personal enjoyment to a certified flight instructor. The JFNC offers services in aircraft checkouts, flight reviews, instrument proficiency checks, and recurrent training in areas requested by club members.

Mulberry Cove Marina

The Mulberry Cove Marina, located on the south end of Ranger Road, along the banks of the beautiful St. Johns River, is a place where patrons can learn to sail, canoe and fish. It offers a wide array of rental equipment including kayaks, canoes, surfboards, stand up paddle boards, fishing kayaks and Flying Scot sailboats.

NAS Freedom Lanes & Pro Shop

The facility is 24-lanes with automatic scoring and automatic bumpers for children. The center offers open bowling, league bowling and Xtreme bowling, a high energy bowling experience with music and lights.

New Member Information

The Jax Navy Flying Club is a sponsored club and all members must meet specific requirements. Members of the JNFC must be active duty military, active reserve, retired military, military family members, Civil Air Patrol (active member) or DoD employees.

New members must submit a completed application, copy of a government issued I.D., provide a signed Covenant Not to Sue and military service verification/Civil Air Patrol/Other qualification to meet membership requirements.  Application package must also include a payment for 3-months advance dues and annual insurance payment deductible totaling $150.00 (3 months at $40 each and $30 annual insurance deductible payment none refundable). Monthly dues will be $40 after the 3 month introduction period.

Other TSA requirements include proof of medical certificate, original passport or birth certificate to show citizenship.

Parks and Picnic Areas

Several beautiful parks and picnic grounds are scattered around the base. Most are equipped with shelters, restrooms, barbecue pits, ball fields, and playground equipment. Reservations are required and can be made up to 6 months in advance.

Skeet Range

Membership eligibility is open to all authorized MWR patrons. Current membership is $12 per year. Cost for a round of skeet or trap is $3.50 per round, includes 25 targets. There is an additional charge for ammo.

The Tickets and Travel Program offers discount ticket sales for special events, as well as area attractions, hotel information and cruise booking.
