The outdoor pool, located on Allegheny Road in Bldg. 419, is 50 meters by 25 yards with a graduated depth from 3 - 12 feet. The pool contains a bathhouse, a children's wading pool complete with a Splash Pad, picnic patio, concession stand and deck, lanes for lap swimming, chairs, tables with umbrellas, lounge chairs and a 150-foot water slide. The pool is available for private parties for a fee and are booked on a first-come, first-served basis. Also, American Red Cross instructors offer the "Learn to Swim Program." The indoor pool, located inside of the Base Gym on Gillis Road in Bldg. 614, is 50 meters by 25 yards with a graduated depth to 12 feet. The pool also serves the military physical readiness training requirements.
The pools are free to active duty, their dependents, DoD employees, reservists and retirees. Sponsored guests are $3 each. Children 15 years of age and under must be accompanied by, and under the direct supervision of, an individual whose minimum age is 16 years. Children between the ages of 10 and 16 years must pass a swim test to use the facilities.
Group Swim lessons are offered May through October for all age groups. Private Swim lessons are offered year round or as Water Swim Instructors are available. Fees for Group Swim Lessons are $40 for 8 sessions. Private Swim Lessons are $20 per session or $75 for a package of 4 sessions.
The Red Cross Learn to Swim Program
This unique swimming instructional curriculum is designed for children over 6 months through adults of all ages. The students will progress through the levels at his or her own pace, mastering the skills in one level before advancing to the next. The certified instructors will gladly assess initial level placement for each swimmer and assist the swimmer in his or her journey to becoming a confident, capable swimmer.
