JOB SUMMARY:  This position is located at the Maintenance Department which is part of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department Aboard Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida.

MAJOR DUTIES: Performs work in a variety of trades in maintenance and repair of interior/exterior structures, related fixtures and utilities.  Installs, modifies and repairs new and existing plumbing. Installs disposal systems and equipment such as sewage and water distributions systems. Works from building plans, blue prints and sketches. Uses skilled techniques to construct, install, repair or modify structures.  Assembles using a variety of techniques.  Performs special coating methods such as marbling and graining using materials prepared in special as well as common ways.  Assists with set up of large canopy tents on a regular basis.  Observes required safety, sanitation and hazardous waste disposal rules and regulations.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:  Must have at least two years of experience that demonstrates knowledge in a combination of at least two of the trades, carpentry, plumbing or painting. Must have the ability to read blue prints, sketches, building plans etc. Must have a valid Florida State Driver License.

NOTE:  Some positions have special requirements. Selection may be tentative pending the completion of the satisfactory employment reference checks and receipt of proof of education (where applicable). Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period. Participation in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required. We utilize E-Verify to confirm selectee’s eligibility to work in the United States. Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. This announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies within 60 days of closing date. For positions requiring travel more than twice per year, selectee will be required to obtain and maintain in good standing a Government-issued Travel Card for official government travel purposes.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

SPOUSAL PREFERENCE:  Spousal Preference can be used only once to gain regular full time employment in the commuting area but may be used multiple times for flexible type position.
