JOB SUMMARY: This position is located at the Golf Maintenance Department, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, NAS Jacksonville, FL.
MAJOR DUTIES: Operates gas and diesel powered tractor and tractor powered mowing equipment and other related golf course maintenance equipment. Operates dump truck and other heavy equipment. Mows greens, fairways, roughs, and tees at designated cuts; removes debris, dead grass, broken tree limbs, leaves and other obstacles that hamper the groomed look expected at a golf course. Digs trenches, cleans ditches and removes weeds around building, fences, shelters, tee markers, etc. May assist in maintaining, repairing, and installing watering system lines, sprinkler heads, and low voltage electric lines and switches associated with an automatic watering system. Operates weed-eaters and several other types of hand tools. Performs other related golf course grounds maintenance duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Must have a high degree of skill in maneuvering driver operated machinery in small, tight, confined spaces with small turning radius. A degree of manual skill is required to work safely with various equipment related to a golf course grounds maintenance department. Must be able to follow both written and oral instructions and accomplish work independently with minimal supervision. Must have a valid driver’s license.
CPR/First Aid certification required but can be achieved within 60 days of hire.
NOTE: Some positions have special requirements. Selection may be tentative pending the completion of the satisfactory employment reference checks and receipt of proof of education (where applicable). Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period. Participation in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required. We utilize E-Verify to confirm selectee’s eligibility to work in the United States. Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. SPOUSAL PREFERENCE: Spousal Preference can be used only once to gain regular full time employment in the commuting area but may be used multiple times for flexible type position.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
