JOB SUMMARY:  This position is located at the Casa Linda Oaks golf Course which is part of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department aboard Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida. This purpose of this position is to provide and maintain adequate supply of riding carts and range balls during normal operating hours and to clean and return golf carts to storage area, restock adequate supply of range balls for the next day’s use.

MAJOR DUTIES:
Uses a gas powered mechanical golf ball retriever to pick up golf balls and places golf balls in the range ball dispenser. Retrieves range ball baskets. Pick up range balls by hand that cannot be retrieved by the mechanical golf ball retriever. Cleans, stores, and secures golf carts, attaches or removes the battery charger hook-ups as appropriate. Will change the practice hitting area to a new location daily. Cleans the golf ball dispenser and performs preventive maintenance functions such as cleaning the gears, cleaning debris from the inside of the dispenser, and oiling moving parts. Checks patrons to ensure they have paid daily green fees. Clean and stocks restrooms and checks sanitation during the shift. Empties trash receptacles and picks up papers, trash and debris around buildings and facilities in order to keep the outside area neat, clean and presentable. Cleans and maintains shelters, and drinking fountains on the golf course. Replaces broken lights, paper products, and empties trash cans.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED; Incumbent will be required to maneuver a mechanical golf ball retriever and golf carts in tight, confined spaces. Must maintain the golf ball retriever, golf ball dispenser, and golf carts following established procedures.  Must have customer service experience with the ability to deal with a diverse customer base tactfully. Must have a basic knowledge of golf etiquette.  Must have a valid State Driver’s License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Physical activities include but are not limited to: standing, walking, turning, twisting, stooping, bending, and reaching, lifting, climbing, balancing, carrying and pushing. Lifting up to 45 pounds unassisted is required. Work is primarily executed outside. Employee will be subjected to all weather extremes; hot and cold, rain, snow, wet and humid conditions.

NOTE:  Some positions have special requirements. Selection may be tentative pending the completion of the satisfactory employment reference checks and receipt of proof of education (where applicable). Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period. Participation in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required. We utilize E-Verify to confirm selectee’s eligibility to work in the United States. Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

EMPLOYMENT PREFERENCES
SPOUSAL PREFERENCE:
Spousal Preference can be used only once to gain regular full time employment in the commuting area but may be used multiple times for flexible type position.

  • Copy of spouses’ orders that state the “Ultimate Activity” is within the average commuting distance to NAS Jacksonville.
