JOB SUMMARY:  This position is located at NAS Jacksonville in support of the Community Recreation Program that may include special events or ongoing recreation programs.

 

MAJOR DUTIES: 
Performs assigned duties and provides necessary services to authorized patrons, including general information and support of Community Recreation programs. Ensures adherence to regulations and safety and security procedures.  Collects fees from customers associated with rentals, reservations, retail items, as well as from classes, trips, and various other Community Recreation programs using Point of Sale (POS) system and other computer programs. May assist in maintaining routine reports and/or perform clerical, custodial and/or general maintenance duties as needed. Is accountable for the accuracy of daily sales transactions and completes a Daily Activity Report (DAR) at the end of every shift. Provides customer service by greeting patrons in person and by answering the telephone; takes messages and handles customer requests or referrals to the appropriate staff member.  Performs administrative duties, all of which are accomplished through a variety of means, including computer software programs which track resource inventories. Ensures all rental or check-out forms are properly completed and reservation and check-out procedures are followed.  Researches and provides information and referral for a variety of recreational opportunities for individuals/families on and off the base. Must become familiar with Community Recreation program standards.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:  Combination of experience related to customer service and or recreation activity based on functions. Must be able to work independently , make sound decisions and have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of the Navy MWR mission and the entire scope of Community Recreation activities and their suitability for individuals, groups, ages, and interests. Must have strong customer service skills.  Knowledge of computers, office procedures and print production.

 

NOTE:  Some positions have special requirements. Selection may be tentative pending the completion of the satisfactory employment reference checks and receipt of proof of education (where applicable). Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period. Participation in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required. We utilize E-Verify to confirm selectee’s eligibility to work in the United States. Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. EMPLOYMENT PREFERENCE: If requesting any type of employment preference, supporting documentation must be submitted with the application/resume to prove preference eligibility. SPOUSAL PREFERENCE: Spousal Preference can be used only once to gain regular full time employment in the commuting area but may be used multiple times for flexible type position.
To prove eligibility, you must submit the following with your resume/application:

  • Copy of spouses’ orders that state the “Ultimate Activity” is within the average commuting distance to NAS Jacksonville.
  • A copy of the marriage certificate that provides proof that marriage occurred prior to the issuance of the orders.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
?Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days of being placed in the position and maintain a valid state drivers’ license in order to transport patrons’ off-base.
Must be C.A.R.E(Controlling Alcohol Risks effectively) trained, hold an Emergency First Responder(EFR) or CPR First Aid certification and hold a current Food Handlers certification upon being place in the position OR be able to obtain these trainings/certifications within 90 days of being placed in the position.
Employment is contingent upon a successfully completed and positively adjudicated National Agency Check (NACI) or higher background clearance as required by the position or local security requirements.
