JOB SUMMARY: This position is located at the Mulberry Cove Marina, MWR Department, NAS Jacksonville, Florida. The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance on marine equipment.
Performs preventive maintenance at scheduled intervals on outboard motors, diagnoses malfunctions of outboard motors including electrical systems, geared units and other components according to manufacturer specifications. Adjusts, repairs, reassembles and runs operational checks on equipment. Times and adjusts engines to operating tolerances using specialized equipment such as compression testers, analyzers, test benches and specialized outboard engine tools and equipment. Performs light maintenance and repairs on boat hulls, both fiberglass and aluminum, repairing cracks, holes, wiring problems, etc. Replaces wheel bearings on boat trailers and wires trailer towing lights. Maintains maintenance records on each engine, hull and trailer. Logging of preventative maintenance, repairs, man-hours, materials and other pertinent information for each situation is required. Determine parts, supplies and equipment needed for repair of motors, boats, trailers and other shop supplies required. May assist Recreation Aide Operations as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Must have thorough experience working on outboard motors and knowledge of two and four stroke engines to determine problems and complete maintenance and repairs. Must have thorough knowledge of the parts and motors including the electrical systems. Must be able to use specialized testing equipment such as analyzers, test benches, etc. Must be able to use reference materials such as microfiche, technical material and manufacturer manuals. Must be knowledgeable in boat and trailer repair to include both fiberglass and aluminum hulls. ABYC Electrical and Gasoline Certified preferred as well as Yamaha engine certifications preferred. Must have a minimum of at least two years prior experience. Will need to be able to lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds.

SPOUSAL PREFERENCE: Spousal Preference can be used only once to gain regular full time employment in the commuting area but may be used multiple times for flexible type position.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
