JOB SUMMARY:  This position is located at the Warehouse which is part of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department Aboard Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida.

 

MAJOR DUTIES: 
Incumbent performs a wide range of warehousing activities to include but not limited to receiving, storing, and shipping of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment and resale merchandise.  Receives, unloads and processes incoming shipments/trucks.  Reports overages/shortages and damaged goods/supplies to Warehouse Manager. Completes and signs shipping and receiving reports. Routes material and equipment to correct locations or storage areas.  Stacks, bins, rotates, and marks/prices stock in accordance with standard warehouse procedures.  Locates, accesses, loads, and moves material for shipment and verifies or prepares documents either manually or by using automated equipment such as computer terminals and bar code wands to read, store, track and prepare material(s) documentation.  May operate warehouse tractors, forklifts, tugs, and trucks, and other general purpose vehicles and may perform routine operator maintenance.  Counts types and quantities of items during inventories; recounts and/or researches other storage locations to assist in determining the basis of overages/shortages or misplaced items. Will assist with mail pick-up and delivery from US Post Office on board Naval Air Station Jacksonville.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: At least 6 months of hands on experience that demonstrates knowledge of overall warehouse plan and accepted warehouse methods, procedures, and techniques of material handling.  Ability to operate mechanized equipment including utility vehicles, forklifts, mobile stock selectors, and automated equipment such as optical readers, scanners, and computer keyboards.  Must be able to process and independently complete shipping and receiving documents to insure correctness of quantities, identification criteria, and labeling.  Skill in stacking, moving, and arranging items on pallets using pallet measuring gauges and automated devices to insure proper height, weight, and other load and storage requirements are met. 

Requires valid driver’s license, completion of pre-employment physical, positively adjudicated National Agency Check with Inquiries.  Also required to obtain forklift license and post office certification within 60 days.

Works will require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions for long periods of time.  Frequently lifts and carries weights up to 40 pounds and may be required to handle heavier assistance. Work is performed indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, and damp atmospheres.

 

 

NOTE:  Some positions have special requirements. Selection may be tentative pending the completion of the satisfactory employment reference checks and receipt of proof of education (where applicable). Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period. Participation in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required. We utilize E-Verify to confirm selectee’s eligibility to work in the United States. Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. SPOUSAL PREFERENCE: Spousal Preference can be used only once to gain regular full time employment in the commuting area but may be used multiple times for flexible type position.
