JOB SUMMARY:  This position is located at River Cove Catering, which is part of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department aboard Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida. This position is responsible for promoting, booking, planning, arranging, staffing and scheduling parties, functions, banquets and other special activities at the facility and T-Bar locations.

 

MAJOR DUTIES:
Incumbent implements all marketing and sales plans in order to achieve assigned revenue/profit goals.  The booking strategies will maximize the profitable utilization of time, staffing and space in each function room.  Assists patrons with menu selection, procurement of decorations, entertainment and presentation.  Responsible for training food service staff in the proper serving methods, table setting service, customer relations and protocol.  Prepares catering contracts, accepts payments and records income.  Creates catering menus and brochures and promotes Officer’s Club facilities.    Inspects final arrangements for catered affairs to ensure all arrangements are met.  Schedules staff and monitors events to ensure star service is provided.  This monitoring requires in incumbent to be available for a varied weekly schedule, with changing hours and days.  Resolves issues or problems, ensuring customer satisfaction.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: A minimum of two years of specialized work experience, which clearly demonstrates food and beverage sales ability and operating a catering food service business with evidence of increasing profitability.    Experience in managing the administrative and operational elements of a catering program, including staffing.  Must be service oriented and able to carry out tasks independently.  This position requires a positive attitude and excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing in dealing with patrons, vendors and other MWR Staff.

 

NOTE:  Some positions have special requirements. Selection may be tentative pending the completion of the satisfactory employment reference checks and receipt of proof of education (where applicable). SPOUSAL PREFERENCE: Spousal Preference can be used only once to gain regular full time employment in the commuting area but may be used multiple times for flexible type position.
