JOB SUMMARY:  This position is located at Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida. The purpose of this position is to maintain accounting documents for the Golf Course and Mulligans.

 

MAJOR DUTIES:
Incumbent maintains and reconciles budget and accounting records by implementing principles of accounting and double entry bookkeeping.  These records consist of various journals and general ledgers, including numerous asset accounts. These also include purchase orders, daily activity summaries, inventory summaries, property records and income sources.
The incumbent prepares reviews, examines, verifies and analyzes a variety of documents for validity and accuracy, which include purchase orders, invoices, vouchers, property records and income sources.
Incumbent verifies and enters into computerized accounting system purchase orders and invoices.
Reviews and analyzes point of sale reports daily and monthly. Incumbent maintains custody of these documents in accordance with applicable guidance.
Responsible for goods issued to cost centers/sites, goods receipts and prepares documents for input of data into point of sale.
Incumbent maintains asset listing of fixed assets, minor property and items easily pilfered.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:  High school graduate, or equivalent, with at least two years of accounting experience is required. A basic understanding of an integrated double entry accrual accounting system. Must be able to accurately use all keyboards, including calculators, and typewriters etc. Previous experience with the NAF accounting system is desirable.  
Knowledge and understanding of accounting terminology, codes, and documents as they relate to the processing and maintenance of carious transactions in a Windows based automated accounting system.
Must have basic knowledge of chart of accounts utilized by NAF accounting system including general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts in an account structure requiring numerous asset and liability control accounts.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  This position is required to do considerable sitting, typing, computer and telephone work.

 

NOTE:  Some positions have special requirements. Selection may be tentative pending the completion of the satisfactory employment reference checks and receipt of proof of education (where applicable). Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period. Participation in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required. We utilize E-Verify to confirm selectee’s eligibility to work in the United States. Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. SPOUSAL PREFERENCE:  Spousal Preference can be used only once to gain regular full time employment in the commuting area but may be used multiple times for flexible type position.
